Christmas card crafting

By Tina - December 07, 2015

So I recently started making cards for friends and family. It is a lot of fun and there are actually some really cool techniques. I am currently obsessed with thermography (printing technique that uses slow drying inked image -the substrate- coated with thermoplastic polymer resin to make a dimensional impression after applying heat -curing-). It's really cool and I do think that embossing makes anything fancy and adds a nice amount of interest to the card.

And well, I made Christmas cards! But mind you, they're not super neat or amazing or anything. I'm still getting the hang of the craft!!!

To make these cards as well, you will need the supplies listed below. These supplies are not cheap (because there's a bunch of stuff you'd need to buy) but once you purchase the following things then they will be yours forever. ^_^

LIST OF SUPPLIES:
Blank cards plus envelopes (you can just make your own out of card stock)
Holiday paper
Embossing powder (Ranger brand offers high quality powders)
Vellum
Paper trimmer
Embossing ink pad (Versamark is a good one)
Holiday sentiment stamp (I like to buy a clear stamp package and mount onto an acrylic block)
Embossing heat tool
Glue (any sort of adhesive, I used double sided tape)
Anti-static powder (basically baby powder)

1.) First cut the holiday paper into the sizes needed to cover the front of a blank card.
2.) Afterwards use the embossing ink pad and just lightly run it over all the ends of the holiday paper.
3.) Cover the ends with embossing powder and then tap off excess.
4.) Heat gun it.
5.) Then apply adhesive on the back of the holiday paper and stick it onto the blank card.
6.) Now cut strips of vellum.
7.) Pick out your favorite holiday sentiment and stamp with the embossing ink pad.
8.) Cover the sentiment with embossing powder and tap off the excess.
9.) Heat gun it (the vellum strip)
10.) Wrap the vellum strip over the front of the card and use some double sided tape to make the ends stick.
